Engineering Diversity Lecture Series at Old Dominion University featuring Dr. Johnny Garcia
On Thursday, October 11th, Dr. Johnny Garcia had the opportunity to present a lecture to Engineering and Computational Science students at Old Dominion University. The focus of the discussion was to encourage the students to continue to pursue their Engineering education despite the obstacles and challenges they may be facing. He spoke about his life beginning in Texas having no idea that we wanted to go into Engineering. He traced his career path starting out in U.S. Navy, moving on to General Dynamics and eventually opening up SimIS. Dr. Garcia highlighted some of SimIS’ operations and defense products that are being used today as well as some of his subsidiary businesses. After his lecture he was able to socialize with students and staff and answer any questions they might have had for him. Being a fellow Monarch, it is an honor for him to be able to come back to ODU and give a lecture to students about his company!
Go Monarchs!
