SimIS to attend Washington Technology Department of Homeland Security Industry Day

SimIS will be attending the Washington Technology Department of Homeland Security Industry Day taking place Friday, May 25, 2018 at The Ritz Carlton Tysons Corner in McLean, VA. This event brings together leading IT decision-makers from across DHS and its components to talk about their priorities and upcoming opportunities. This half-day event will give insight into DHS’s current needs, status of programs, acquisitions processes, and procurement vehicles. Attendees will hear the latest on DHS’s modernization and transformation efforts.

The Department of Homeland Security is one of government’s largest purchasers of information technology, with $6.8 billion in its fiscal 2018 budget. With $100 million in appropriations from the Modernizing Government Technology Act expected to be distributed later this year, DHS, like all departments, is eager to spend more on IT modernization.

DHS’s IT demands are vast and vary widely between the needs of its 14 agencies, ranging from FEMA to ICE to TSA to Coast Guard to Secret Service. Across all of DHS is the increased demand for cybersecurity to meet new federal mandates and address existing vulnerabilities. CDM, EINSTEIN, and Next Generation Networks are just a few such programs.
